Visual evolution of Oh My Ondas — from palette explorations to hardware-ready instrument
Camera form-factor concept inspired by Contax T2 and Ricoh GR. Lens = omnidirectional microphone, shutter button = REC trigger. Compact body with side display, hot shoe mount, and GPS LED. The original vision — capture sound like you capture light.
View Sonic Camera →First pivot from camera to sequencer form-factor. Light background with bold orange accent (#ff6b2b) on pads, transport controls, and sensor callouts. Embedded display showing the live app. The bridge between camera concept and the current hardware design.
View orange mockup →Bauhaus-inspired primary color exploration. Yellow accent (#e6b800), red highlights, blue info panels. Strong visual hierarchy but felt too aggressive for an instrument meant for outdoor soundscape capture.
View palette A →Softer palette with light blue (#5ba8d4), pink (#d48ba0), and muted yellow (#d4c56a). This became the foundation for the final web app palette — calmer, more environmental, reflecting acoustic ecology principles.
View palette B →First physical hardware concept. Aluminum enclosure (200x140x45mm), 5" touch display, 8 capacitive pads, 8 rotary encoders, 4 mixer faders, crossfader, transport buttons, and function keys. Static LCD mockup showing the sequencer view. Full BOM and pin assignments.
View hardware design →Dark petrol-green (#1a3535) enclosure with live interactive display running the actual web app in embedded mode. 5 encoders, 8 pads, 5-way joystick, crossfader, transport ridge buttons, mode selection, side grips, and full I/O port callouts. Communicates with app via postMessage.
View interactive mockup →Complete 5-column grid layout with all modules: 8-track sequencer with P-locks, 4-channel mixer with VU meters, dual-oscillator synth, 8-pad sampler, FX chain (delay/glitch/grain/crusher), AI composer, radio integration, GPS journeys, 4-scene recall, and master EQ.
Launch web app →A5-sized concept drawn from the parts actually on the bench: 2.8″ LCD, a radio window on the two-colour OLED with a telescopic antenna and TUNE knob, 8 copper pads, 5 colour-coded faders, 7 encoders and game-pad navigation, in an Indian temple stucco palette (peacock turquoise, vermilion, marigold, lotus pink, Krishna blue). Every control maps to a real part and bus.
